About Bona
Bona and her sisters were born in a suburb of the city of Gorazde. Outside it was very cold, frosty and snowy. In February 2021, we received a call from residents of the town who found the puppies frozen to death. Our doctors immediately took care of the little ones when they came to us. They were malnourished and very weak. Fortunately, after a while they recovered well and now they can play together with our other puppies of the same age. Bona unfortunately has visible consequences, her joints on her front legs are crooked. We took her to a veterinary clinic in Sarajevo. The diagnosis of the doctors was rickets. This disease can be caused due to genetics or due to bad living conditions. Since she was born and left in very low temperatures, we assume that the consequences stem from this. Bona is getting important vitamins that she needs, but her disease will not be cured. The prognosis is that she will most likely need to take pain relieving medication when she reaches middle age. Physical therapy for rickets can also be very helpful. Regardless, she runs and plays with our other dogs at the shelter. Bona is very friendly, sweet and playful. We are looking for a family with a big heart for our Bona, who can give her a nice and as long as possible and painless life.
